Introducing the Nycer App for Datorama Marketplace

Since we introduced the Datorama Marketplace, we’ve been working with developers to launch innovative, custom apps that extend the power of Datorama. Marketers are able to seamlessly discover and use these apps on the Datorama platform. Today, we’re excited to announce that has developed the Nycer App, Conversational Analytics for Datorama, generally available now on the Datorama Marketplace.

Nycer is a company with a mission to help make insights from data accessible and available to everyone, regardless of their data skills. They combine business expertise with their expertise in data science and full-stack development to reduce the barriers to entry in capitalizing on data-driven opportunities.

The new app is a conversational analytics tool that allows users to type out any question about their marketing data in their own natural language and get deep insights in a matter of seconds.

To better understand the app and how marketers can gain value from it, we interviewed Nycer’s Founder, Bradley Boldenow:

Why did you decide to build your app on the Datorama Marketplace?

As a Datorama client, I’ve seen first hand the unique value that the Datorama platform provides. Having a single system of record that incorporates all channels and activities of a marketer’s world view is such a huge opportunity. The Datorama Marketplace provides incremental ways that organizations and independent developers can leverage this opportunity. Building an app on the Datorama Marketplace was a no-brainer.

What exactly does that app do and how does it work?

Nycer is a conversational analytical tool. What does that mean? Think Google but for your data. Wondering what your organic traffic was last month? All Nycer needs to provide you with insights is that question alone. And we don’t leave you hanging with a single number. We go the extra mile to deliver context you can bring with you in your pursuit of delivering the best experiences for your customers.

How does all this work? Imagine you’re in a meeting and your stakeholder asks how many engagements the current holiday creative has. You won’t need to dig around in pivot tables, exporting data or parsing through dashboards. You can simply type out a question, such as “how are engagements for the holiday creative,” and Nycer will return a custom analysis in seconds. This leaves you to focus on more strategic and valuable initiatives.

What challenges does your app solve?

Modern marketing moves a million miles an hour. Keeping up with the changing demands of your customers is enough to keep you endlessly busy. So it’s no surprise that it’s not always feasible to dig around in pivot tables, parse through dashboards and find old reports to get the data you need, at the speed you need, to keep up with your customers. That’s where we come in. Nycer gives Datorama users the ability to type out questions about their marketing data, in the same way, they would speak it, and not only get an answer to that question but also the context in order to answer questions around the ‘why’ and ‘how.’ Using machine learning and natural language processing, Nycer takes over the heavy lifting and manual work of data-driven decisions, giving your marketing organization instant insights.

Who is the ideal user for your app?

The ideal user for the Nycer app is anyone who wants to leverage data. We’ve created the app to be flexible and built to account for the needs and demands of anyone in an organization that can benefit from Datorama data.

During the installation process, the user will select any and all dimensions and measurements they (or their users) are interested in and apply filters to refine and clean the app instance. Then in run mode, users can ask about any or all of the dimensions and measurements that were selected during the installation process.

For example, perhaps an app instance needs to be spun up for your email channel or the email marketer. Simply select email dimensions (email name, subject line, journey descriptors), email measurements (sends, opens, clicks, click rate) and filters (filter out test emails) and you’re all set! Now anyone can ask questions and gain insights for things such as the number of clicks last month, performance by email name, or click rate for each journey.

The same process can be followed and customized depending on the role and activity for the data in Datorama. An instance could be built for a CMO with high-level metrics, an SEO specialist who wants easy access to organic traffic trends by different pages and channels, or perhaps an analyst who wants quick access to monitor an important campaign–the options are endless!
